International Week / インターナショナルウィーク

　Before winter vacation it was International Week here at school. It's a new event and this was our first year. The goal of this event is to allow the school community to learn a little more about another culture and to share our own experiences with other cultures. We want everyone to see how interesting other people and countries are, and that even though they are different from Japan there are some similarities, too.

　It was a pretty fun as we had a lot of things to see and do. There was stamp rally and interactive posters for the students to have fun with. Each day after school we had a special class for interested students. They could come to learn about world music, do origami in English, or bake scones from a traditional Irish recipe. There were various displays in the library which focussed on books and writers from around the world.


　In classes, various teachers of various subjects did something special for International Week. They introduced different languages to students or shared and discussed travel experiences and culture shock. In the mornings we had Skype sessions with people from the school community who live in different countries now. Each day at lunch we had English Lunch with guests and graduates.


　It was a lot of fun this year and I hope next year will be just as good.
