What is leadership? I think this is a very difficult question. I've been thinking of this since I turned chu3. I'm working hard in my club and council in school, but I thought that if I know the best way of taking on the leadership I can work better. So, when I found the poster of 'GO! Girls' in the Language Centre I decided to join the program.
リーダーシップとは何でしょうか？これはとても難しい質問だと思います。私は中学三年生の時からずっと、この質問の答えを考えていました。私は学校でのクラブ活動や、委員会を一生懸命頑張っていますが、もしリーダーシップを持つための最良の方法を知ることが出来れば、私はもっと頑張ることができると思っていました。だから私は、ランゲージセンターで Go! Girls プログラムのポスターを見つけた時にそのプログラムへの参加を決意しました。
I had to write two essays. I typed them and tried to send them to the US Embassy but a big problem happened. Our computer broke down! I felt very concerned and panicked. I told this to my friend she told me 'don't worry! use my computer, I want to support you’. I'm filled with gratitude for her. A few weeks later I got a email from the US Embassy that I passed the selection. I was very happy to know that.
私はそのプログラムに参加するにあたって２本の小論文を書く必要がありました。私はパソコンに小論文を打ち込み、それをアメリカ大使館に送ろうとしましたが、そこに大きな問題が発生しました。私が使っていたパソコンが壊れてしまったのです。私はとても不安でパニックに陥りました。このことを私の友人に伝えると、その友人が「心配しないで！私のパソコンを使って。私にも協力させて。」といってくれました。私は彼女への感謝でいっぱいでした。数週間後、アメリカ大使館から私が選考に受かったというメールが届きました。私はそれを知ってとても嬉しかったです。
In the program we discussed various topics a lot and made a speech on what our group thought about it. It was so fresh for me to tell our opinions to the other group members. There were many kinds of girls in the program. One girl who lives in Oita prefecture was in 7th grade. I was hugely influenced by her . She was making a personal goal each time such as 'share more opinions than last time' or 'talk with the mentors'. I learned the importance of being active in work from her.
そのプログラムでは、参加者は様々なテーマについて話し合い、どんなことを考えたのか、グループ毎にスピーチで発表しました。自分たちの意見を他のグループの人達に伝えるということは、私にとってとても新鮮でした。そのプログラムには色々な女の子が参加していました。参加者の中には大分県から来た、中１の女の子もいました。私は彼女からたくさんの刺激を受けました。彼女は毎回「前回よりも意見を他の人と共有する」、「他の参加者と話す」というような目標を持っていました。私は彼女から積極的に働きかけることの大切さを学びました。
My best memory is thinking about what we ca learn from 'Let it go' and how different the English version is from the Japanese version. First, we talked about what 'it' means. I thought 'it' is about Elsa because she suffered because of her magical icy power. People who don't know about her power think that she is strange and try not to get mixed up with her. I thought Elsa wanted to let go of her power. But, another girl in my group said that 'it' is about the doubters and the people who day something negative to her. Through this I realised that being a good leader is about being myself.
私の一番の思い出は「Let it go!」から何を学ぶことができるのか、そして英語バージョンは日本語バージョンとどう違うのかについて考えたことです。まず最初に私達は「it」が何を意味しているのかについて話し合いました。私は劇中でエルサが彼女自身が持つ不思議な、氷の力に苦しめられていたので、「it」はエルサを指していると考えました。エルサの力について知らない人々は彼女がおかしいと考え、自分たちが巻き込まれないようにしていました。私はエルサが彼女自身の力を開放したがっていたと考えました。しかし、同じグループの他の女の子達は、「it」はエルサの力に理解を示さず、彼女に否定的な言葉をかける人々のことだと言っていました。そのことから私は、自分であることが良いリーダーであることだと気付きました。
I recommend this program because it developed my leadership skills and my way of thinking and I'm even more confident than before I joined 'GO! Girls'.
