An International Weekend
This weekend, I met many people from other countries. I spent Saturday with my friend Ariel. He's from Israel, but he lived in Germany for ten years and he has just moved to Mexico. He's an artist, so we went to see some art exhibitions together. One of the exhibitions was of photographs taken by a Russian photographer. She was at the gallery, so we were able to talk with her. She's from Moscow, but she has lived in Japan for three years. She is a graduate student at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and she plans to stay in Japan for a long time.
On Sunday, my friend Jacob came over to our house for dinner with his family. He is from Denmark and his wife is Japanese. They have two sons who are five years old and three years old, and their boys are good friends with our children. Jacob is a computer scientist at a research institute in Tsukuba. He is a very intelligent man, like many of the people who live in Tsukuba. Jacob's parents are visiting from Denmark, so they came too and we all had *temaki zushi* together. It was a very fun and very international party!
