We got some new books in the Language Centre. We tend to have a lot of
fiction, but these new books are non-fiction. One is about the president of
the United States, Barack Obama. Another is about Hurricane Katrina which
hit the US in 2005. It was one of the biggest disasters in history, and
people are still living without homes.
The other book, and my favourite so far is about Malala Yousafzai. She is
now 18 years old and lives in The UK. Her famous quote is 'One child, one
teacher, one pen and one book can change the world'. She stood up for what
she believes in and was even shot by the Taliban for her beliefs. I really
respect her. It's a really good book and I think you guys need to read it.
ランゲージセンターに何冊か新しい本を置きました。いつもはフィクションが多いのですが今回はノンフィクションのものです。１つはアメリカ合衆国大統領バラク・オバマについてで、もう１つは2005年にアメリカで被害の出たハリケーン、カトリーナについてです。ハリケーンカトリーナは史上最大級の災害で、被災者は未だに家のない状態で暮らしています。
もう１つの本は、私の今のところのお気に入りで、マララ・ユスフザイさんについてです。マララさんは今18歳で、イギリスに住んでいます。マララさんの有名な言葉に、「1人の子供、1人の先生、1本のペンが世界を変える」というものがあります。マララさんは自分の信念を貫いて立ち上がり、タリバンに撃たれたのです。本当に尊敬します。とても良い本なので、みなさんにも是非読んでほしいです。Translated by W.F. (高３)
